Daylight Customer Story: Dad
Daylight saves the Day, the BIRTHday!
I am a father of a 6 year old boy who is just like any 6 year old boy—they are continuously changing their minds.
My son still is unsure if he wants to be an Astronaut or Professional Baseball player.
Most recently, my son was turning 6 years old and I kept asking and asking him what he wanted for his special 6th birthday. He never would tell me.
On the morning, four days prior to his birthday, he comes down for breakfast and tells me that he has been thinking all week on what he wanted to do for his birthday.
He finally tells me, “Dad, I Want to have my friends over for party but not just any party—I Want to have one of those inflatable bouncers so that my friends and I can jump around all day together and it has look like a castle.”
My son was convinced that this is what he wanted. So, my wife and I went to work.
After hours of calling around, we finally found a place that would rent a bouncer that looked like a castle. Here is where the real problem set in—the only one in the country was located in Southern California and we live in South Georgia.
We went ahead and rented the bouncer. The company that rented it to US said they had never shipped one of their bouncers all the way across the country in three days but they would investigate. So, we both began to call around.
I called one of my friends who works for a logistics company and asked, “How can a shipment on a pallet be transported from Southern California to South Georgia in three days, with the third day being a Saturday?”
He said, “We may have to put it on a plane but I’ll check.” After calling around, he said the only carrier he knew that could do this was Daylight Transport, whose corporate offices are in Long Beach, CA.
Minutes later, I got a call back from the inflatables company. They said the same thing: the only carrier they knew that could do this was, also, Daylight Transport, I called Daylight Transport and booked the shipment.
Sure enough—Daylight Transport picked the shipment up on Wednesday, and Daylight’s local Executive Manager delivered the shipment on the back of his pickup truck late on Friday night.
On Saturday, my son got what he wanted for his birthday.
